I first came
across the Buteyko method of controlling Asthma in an article in
the Daily Mail some four or five years ago. Strangely enough, Jonathan
Aitken, the former cabinet minister had undertaken the course and
endorsed it's effectiveness.
I did nothing
much about it as although I had been an asthmatic since I was eighteen
months old and had been hospitalised once during my teens and once
during my early twenties. Through controlled exercise running I
had regained a good level of fitness and my asthma did not trouble
me too much, although I was using Ventolin regularly as well as
Pulmicort.
